Important note regarding the copying of programmes
Aims / Objectives :
AIMS – For the chanichim to learn the story and make them think about sibling relationships and to bring up the idea of interfaith relationships.
Trigger :
TRIGGER 10 mins
Give out pens and paper. Individually, ask the chanichim to write a comment in some of the envelopes that are spread around the room anonymously.
The envelopes will be colour coded to show the two central themes we will be looking at: Sibling relationships and Inter-faith relationships.
The following questions are on the envelopes:
Qs 1 – What makes a good brother/sister?
Qs 2 – Do you have to be related to act as a brother/sister?
Qs 3 – What are the advantages of being an only child?
Qs 1 – Is it easy to have friends of other religions, why?
Qs 2 – How are some religions similar?
Qs 3 – Does it matter what religion you are, if so why?
Main part of the programme :
METHOD 15 mins
Split into groups of about 5 with a madrich/a. Each group is given a section of the story to discuss. The madrich/a should guide the discussion with some questions we will give you. These will be to do with interfaith and sibling relationships.
20 mins
Create a sock puppet show for your part of the story, and then perform to the rest of the group so eventually everyone will see the whole story
Conclusion :
SIKKUM 10 mins
Come together as a group and some of the answers from the questions on the envelopes will be read out.
