Important note regarding the copying of programmes
Aims / Objectives :
• Team-based competition over a series of rounds
• The games will be themed on ‘Blue Peter’ style activities and the score will be kept using a Blue Peter style charity-ometer.
Trigger :
Trigger:
Madrichim acting as hosts introduce the show as if it were live on TV.
“Today we have 4 teams from ljy-netzer competing against each other in a series of challenges for the coveted prize of a Blue Peter badge!” Etc. Continue in the style of an enthusiastic children’s TV presenter.
Round 1: ‘Ship Ahoy’.
The teams have 5 minutes to make a Blue Peter ship out of the following materials:
• A cereal box (or similar amount of cardboard)
• A sheet of A4 paper
• 5 straws
• Scissors, glue, sellotape
(Trigger and round one: 10 mins)
Main part of the programme :
Round 2: ‘Litter Pick’.
The team to collect the most genuine rubbish left around the site in 3 minutes will win the most points, and so on. Boundaries of the search will be defined before the round begins to ensure other programmes are not disturbed
(5 mins)
Round 3: ‘Me and my pet’
This round requires 2 competitors from each team to step forward as representatives. One person in each pair will need to be the owner of the pet, and one person will need to be the pet (they can choose what animal). Both will need to stay in character for the duration of this round.
The presenters will interview each owner individually, as the pets diligently stand by their side. The owners will be asked to introduce themselves and their pet, and then recount a story of something particularly heroic their pet once did. They must then get their pet to perform its best tricks!
Points will be awarded for heroism, obedience, realistic animal impersonation and cuteness.
(5 mins)
Round 4: ‘Re-bicycle’
Using the rubbish they earlier acquired, the teams have 3 minutes to construct a fully operational bicycle. The best attempt wins the most points. If not enough rubbish was collected more will be made available. Note: After this round it may be necessary to wash hands. Also, keep a look out for any unsuitable objects (e.g. sharp), but there shouldn’t be anything other than empty food packets and similar waste.
(5 mins)
Round 5: ‘Fund raising’
As young social activists, the teams will need to be very good at raising money. The madrichim will each have an imaginary £100 to donate to whichever causes they choose. Each team must choose a cause they wish to support and then sub-divide into 3 groups (at least 2 in each group, but other than that it doesn’t matter how big each group is).
1. Street Campaigners – must enthusiastically try to secure donations from the madrichim in a non-threatening manner. ‘Hi I’m from charity X, would you be interested in…. etc’
2. Publicity – must create an eye-catching poster promoting awareness of their cause.
3. Sponsorship – these people must do bizarre and imaginative things (within reason!) to gain sponsorship money from the madrichim (E.g. sponsored singing the netzer song).
The madrichim with the money will each have 10 £10 notes that they can give out as they go to the sponsorship people and street campaigners, with whatever’s left over to go to the posters as they are presented at the end. The teams gain points according to how much money they raised.
(10 minutes)
