Important note regarding the copying of programmes
Aims / Objectives :
To demonstrate to the kids that being born into poverty and a certain lifestyle most often leaves you in the same vicious cycle. It also aims to show the kids about class separation in a very simplistic manner.
Trigger :
Each kid receives a character which includes: financial position, job, family, height, weight, name, and a little character synopsis which includes things like “has a gambling problem” etc…
Name: John Smith
Age: 52
Height: 5’7 Weight: 90kg
Job: Cleaner at the Winston and Bros Factory
Synopsis: He lives with his wife in a small shack under the railway bridge. He like gardening and spending time with his wife. Unfortunately with the little money that he earns from work he spends at the Casino, sometimes he wins, but most of the time he doesn’t.
Each of the character work in the same factory however they all have different jobs and are paid a salary according to the job per hour
Cleaners- $4
Workers- $10
Managers- $30
Executive- $500
Main part of the programme :
The program will run in 10 minute slots which will be announced by the “work” whistle.
During work time
• Worker: make art and craft stuff like jewellery and decorations
• Cleaners: sweep and dust factory and get drinks for the boss and give massages
• Managers: walk around and watch what the workers do and get to pick on them
• Executive: sits on the chairs, relax, get provided with drinks etc…
During alternative slots the whole factory is able to choose from a few different activities
1. Go to the Casino and gamble
2. work overtime for more money
3. Go and learn English – cost is $4
4. go to the amusement park- $20
This will all repeat for about 4 times or more if they are getting into it/ until luch
When the last whistle blows for lunch they take what money they have made and go to lunch.
Falafel ball- $4 Pita- $8 Salad and dips- $10
They all must sit at the same table
Conclusion :
After lunch has been eaten, divide into smaller groups and have a brief discussion about how they felt during the program, how it relates to the real world etc....

Notes:
This is best conducted as a camp program. It is aimed at younger kids, and the final discussion should be appropriately designed (questions asked) for your own chanichim. Make the questions challenge your chanichims understanding of class structure and the comforts that they live in.
