Important note regarding the copying of programmes
Aims / Objectives :
• For the members to feel an your movement's presence.
• To promote your movement's camp.
• To learn about Parashat Beshallach – the Exodus out of Egypt.
Trigger :
Video of a Chanicha in darkness, in slavery from her parents and her homework. Counting the days until the summer months, hoping that she will be redeemed.
Main part of the programme :
Split into about 5 groups (ie: about 5/6 per group of similar age)
Take 6 bits of text from the Parasha:
1. ‘And it came to pass, when Pharoah had let the people go…the children of Israel went up armed out of the land of Egypt’ (Exodus 13: 17-18)
2. ‘And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him; for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying: ‘God will surely remember you’ (Exodus 13: 19)
3. ‘And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; that they might go by day and by night’ (Exodus 13: 21)
4. ‘And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all the night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters divided’ (Exodus 14: 21)
5. ‘Israel saw the great work which the Lord did…and they believed in the Lord, and in his servant Moses. Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord’ (Exodus 14:31 – 15:1)
6. ‘And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, “We would not have died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots, when we did eat bread to the full; for you have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger”. Then said the Lord unto Moses: “Behold, I will cause to rain bread from heaven for you’ (Exodus 16: 2-4)
Each part of the text corresponds to a different round in the game:
1. You have to persuade your parents to let you go on camp
2. You need to decide what you want to take with you
3. You need to know how to get there
4. You don’t know anyone at the drop-off point, but the Madrichim help you part the way into friendship
5. You get to the camp site and everyone sings with excitement
6. The foods horrible, you’d prefer to be at home than eat this. But there so much ruach that has been created that it’s like a miracle.
Activities associated to each round:
1. Negotiation game.
Have teams all starting with the same amount of chocolate/sweets. They have to decide whether to keep or share the chocolate. If:
KEEP SHARE OUTCOME
A B A gets B’s
B A B gets A’s
A & B Both loose
A & B Both keep their own
2. Tray of items
Chanichim have to memorise the items on a tray it’s then covered and they have to remember what there was. Can develop it a bit and remove items and they have to spot what’s missing.
3. Blindfolded follow my leader
In pairs, one blindfolded one not. The sighted person has to guide their partner around the room. There will be some time to practice and then a race.
4. Human Bingo

5. Sing movement song
Teach the some and then sing it.
6. Chants
