- Have an understanding of the cultural and religious differences.
- Become aware of the experiences they can have (Tour/Shnat).
- Think about how they can identify with Jews around the World.

Trigger :
Chanachim will be woken up in a boarding school type fashion and told to dress in school uniforms and be at breakfast by a certain time.

After breakfast chanachim will be put into “assembly” where they will be put into 3 groups of 22.

Main part of the programme :
3 lessons. One is Religious studies where they will learn point 5 of the aims list. The next is geography where they will learn the first two aims and the third is point three on the aims list in a sociology type lesson.

Lessons will be conducted under strict rules.

After the three lessons have finished, assembly will be called and point 4 on the aims list will be told to them. They will then have “playtime” until another assembly where each form will get together and discuss the day.

- Geography -The class is split in two. One of the chanichim gets up in front of the class and has is given a country and the other team has to guess from which country they come from (pictionary – i.e. no talking, just drawing or sharades i.e. no talking) – this is a Netzer Snif.

- Religious Studies- Pin Jew on the map. Give a pair of two chanachim, a county to be a Jew of. They have time to think of how life will be different for a practicing Jew in their country. Teacher then takes charge and gives the class a subject (eg. Shabbat) and the pairs have to put up their hands and tell the rest of the class how “their Jew” would act toward that in the particular country.
- Demographics – Class split in half, they are given a quiz on World Jewry.

Conclusion :
Assembly: There lots of ways of experiencing World Jewry, Shnat is a year …..
Hand round photos etc…
